WHITE OAK AKASHI JAPANESE WHISKY
Country: Japan.
Alcohol Volume: 40% ABV.
Sugar Content: 0–5 g/L (Sweetness Code 0 / Dry).
Food Pairing Recommendations:
Because Akashi Blended is a light, approachable whisky with subtle notes of vanilla, citrus, and a whisper of peat smoke, it pairs exceptionally well with dishes that do not overpower its delicate profile:
Yakitori & Grilled Meats: The faint peat smoke and oak characteristics complement charred, savory chicken skewers or light pork belly.
Sushi & Sashimi: Its clean, dry profile cuts through the fatty texture of salmon or tuna sashimi without clashing with soy sauce.
Toasted Nuts & Creamy Cheeses: The whisky’s inherent pine nut and toffee aromas match flawlessly with smoked almonds, walnuts, and mild brie.
Mixing & Serving Recommendations:
The Japanese Highball: This is the ideal preparation for Akashi. Combine 60 ml of Akashi Whisky with 180 ml of premium chilled sparkling water over large cubes of ice. Garnish with a lemon twist to elevate the citrus notes.
Neat or with Water: Because of its unique production by a Toji (sake master), adding a few drops of pure water opens up the delicate aromas of black cherry and warm dough.
Served Warm: On colder days, it can be gently warmed and enjoyed similarly to hot sake, which accentuates its sweet stone fruit and buttery textures.
